試験片は密閉されたチャンバーに入れられ、次の3つの部分からなる繰り返しサイクルからなる変化する気候にさらされます。 中性(pH 6.5~7.2)の塩水溶液の連続間接スプレーに4.0時間暴露し、1.0~2.0ml/80cm²/時間の速度で試料に落下し、チャンバー温度は+35°Cです。 これに続いて、+ 60°Cで20〜30%RHの気候で2.0時間の空気乾燥が行われます。 これに続いて、+50°Cで95〜100%RHの凝縮水気候(湿潤)に2.0時間さらされます。 サイクルの繰り返し回数は多いため、テスト期間は可変です。
テスト・サイクルの各部分間の最大遷移時間も、次のように指定されます。
塩水噴霧から30分以内の風乾まで。
風乾から濡れまで15分以内。
濡れから塩水噴霧まで30分以内。
